Base Camp for Exploring the Hudson Valley

Tarrytown enjoys a rich natural environment and location on the eastern bank of the Hudson River. It’s why so many residents chose to live and work here.

The Tarrytown Environmental Advisory Council works to make sure these local resources are protected, kept clean and vital, and easy to access. We’ve worked to clean up the area around the Tarrytown Lakes, plant trees there, create new trails and welcome Tarrytown kayakers. We’ve held river clean-ups — both on the water and at the shoreline and surrounding areas — and promoted electric bikes at our annual EcoFair, so our hilly environment isn’t a deal-breaker for cyclists.

Our bike trails and blue waterways extend beyond the village. We’ll keep adding information to this section to help you enjoy the outdoors, in Tarrytown and beyond.

If ever I should wish for a retreat whither I might steal from the world and its distractions, and dream quietly away the remnant of a troubled life, I know of none more promising than this little valley.
