Public Meetings for Route 9 Active Transportation Conceptual Design Plan Coalition

The Route 9 Active Transportation Conceptual Design Plan Coalition is sponsoring the first public meetings to gather input on a plan to make Broadway safer for people walking and cycling through Westchester’s Rivertowns. The workshops will take place on Thursday, June 15th from 7-9 pm at the Hastings Community Center and on  Saturday, June 17th from 1-3pm at the Warner Library in Tarrytown. The team is looking forward to the public’s insights as to where problems exist, as well as ideas on how to fix them. Opinions and discussion are welcome.
 
Earlier this year, the coalition, which is comprised of the Villages of Hastings, Dobbs Ferry, Irvington, Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow, was awarded a $150,000 grant from the New New York Bridge Community Benefits Program to study and present a comprehensive plan to improve travel and safety along Route 9

Earth Day Project

TEAC and members of our community gathered for TEAC's Earth Day Project on Saturday, April 22 from 10AM to 1PM, at the Neperan Road lakes parking lot. We cleared brush, picked up trash, planted seedlings, and more to make the Tarrytown Lakes more accessible and beautiful for us all.

Complete Streets Workshop

Join TEAC and members of the community on April 10 for a Complete Streets Workshop at Village Hall, One Depot Plaza, Tarrytown. Workshops will take place at 12pm and 3pm. Later in the day, join us for a public presentation at 6:30pm at Village Hall.

This public workshop and presentation, led by Alta Planning and Design (Engineering and Design Firm), will discuss plans for intersections of White and Main streets and Central and Wildey streets .

Rockefeller State Park Preserve has been designated an Important Bird Area.  Dr. Elijah Goodwin will present preliminary results from the first year of a multi-year study of wood thrush productivity on Preserve lands. What can wood thrushes tell us about the health of our forest, and where do we go from here?

Kids Speak up for Solar

The Tarrytown Environmental Advisory Council (TEAC) and Solarize Tarrytown are inviting school age student residents to create age appropriate materials to represent the need for sustainable energy, how solar energy works, and its benefits. Materials would include posters and videos to highlight the benefits of solar energy.

All entries must be received by 4 P.M. on Thursday, February 4, 2016. Please address to: Attention TEAC, Tarrytown Village Hall, 1 Depot Plaza, Tarrytown NY 10591. Videos and/or links to videos can be emailed to sharoncamlic@gmail.com.

Participants will receive a Solarize Tarrytown Certificate at Warner Library on Monday evening, February 8 at 6:30 P.M. Special awards will be presented to two student entries from each school. Winning entries will be posted on the Solarize Tarrytown website:
