We in the Tarrytown Environmental Advisory Council (TEAC) are excited that you are interested in being a part of the Community Garden at Paulding School in Tarrytown. Community Gardens are a great way to grow your own food, meet neighbors, share knowledge, spend time outdoors while getting exercise, and feed pollinators. / En el Consejo Asesor Ambiental de Tarrytown (TEAC) estamos entusiasmados de que esté interesado en ser parte del Jardín Comunitario de la Escuela Paulding en Tarrytown. In order to make the garden accessible to all, we have a sliding scale fee system. If your joint household income is $60k or more the fee is $50 for the season. If your earnings are less than $60k, the seasonal fee is $25. All Community Garden members must be Tarrytown or Sleepy Hollow residents. / Para que el jardín sea accesible para todos, contamos con un sistema de tarifas de escala móvil. If we receive more applications than # of available beds, we will be conducting a lottery system. If selected, you are only guaranteed a bed after you have attended the orientation work session and payment is received. Please make checks payable to the Village of Tarrytown. In the memo section of the check please write: COMMUNITY GARDEN. Checks should be brought to the Orientation Meeting (April 12, 2026). Cash or Venmo will be accepted. / Si recibimos más solicitudes que el número de camas disponibles, realizaremos un sorteo. Si es seleccionado, solo se le garantizará una cama después de haber asistido a la sesión de orientación y recibido el pago. Por favor, extienda los cheques a nombre de la Aldea de Tarrytown. By participating, you agree to the following 2026 Community Garden Rules:
1. Every gardener must attend the Orientation Meeting and group work day scheduled for April 12th from 9-11am.
2. Assignments to a garden bed in a previous year does not grant a bed for subsequent years. There is a limit of two consecutive gardening seasons and only one bed per household.
3. Garden beds should be planted by May 15, 2026. All unattended beds will be reassigned to members on the waiting list.
4. The garden prohibits planting corn and sunflowers in beds due to height restrictions.
7. Persons under the age of 16 are not permitted in the garden without an adult.
8. Gardening hours are 7am to sunset on weekends or school holidays, and before 8:30am or after 4pm M-F while school is in session. Summer recess hours are 8am-8pm, with the exception of summer programs, which will be announced.
9. Regular maintenance of a bed throughout the season is essential. Unattended beds will be revoked and reassigned to the next person on the waiting list.
10. Gardener are responsible for keeping their assigned bed and perimeter, on either side of fence, weed free, and are expected to help maintain the path and common areas, as needed.
11. Gardeners are expected to bring their own tools, although we have a small tool share collection of hand tools in the storage box. Donations such as tools, soil, fencing and materials are accepted and appreciated.
