DESCRIPTION:Come cross the Hudson River in your kayak with us! This crossing will take approximately 1-1/2 hours in each direction and will include a 20-minute break on the Nyack shoreline.  \nThere will be safety boat escorts\, but only experienced kayakers with the stamina to paddle 7 miles round-trip at an average rate of 2.5 knots should register. Hinchey Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area\, as well as the amazing landscape\, communities\, and trails throughout the region.\nEvery September\, participation continues to grow. Ramblers come not only from the Hudson Valley region and New York State but from other regions of the country as well to discover the riches our Valley has to offer. Whether you are interested in a challenging hike\, bike ride or paddle\, an inspiring walk through the grounds and homes of some of the Valleys most notable artists\, authors\, and Great Americans\, a trip back in time to experience the significant role the region played in the Revolutionary War\, or a family-fun festival or river exploration event\, the Hudson River Valley Ramble truly offers something for everyone! \nWhat kind of events are “Ramble” events?\nThe Hudson River Valley Ramble celebrates the trails\, the river and the historic and cultural resources of the Hudson River Valley Greenway and Maurice D. Hinchey Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area. Many Ramble events connect heritage and recreation. \nWhat does this mean? Many Ramble events highlight themes of the Maurice D. Hinchey Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area such as the Revolutionary War\, Great Estates\, Hudson River School artists\, designated Greenway Trails\, and the Hudson River Estuary. Ramble events are generally outdoors\, or include an outdoor portion\, and are guided and/or offer an interpretation of the landscape\, history\, or ecology of the area. DESCRIPTION:The Sleepy Hollow Environmental Advisory Committee (SHEAC)\, Climate Smart Communities and Tarrytown Environmental Advisory Council (TEAC) will conduct their first “Compost Giveback Day” on June 25 from 3-5pm at John Paulding School Parking Lot located at 154 N. Broadway\, Tarrytown. \nResidents of our villages have been sending their food waste to be composted instead of going to the trash incinerator. Now it’s time to bring home the nutrient-dense compost that is produced and use it in our home gardens! \nResidents (including those not yet part of the Tarrytown & Sleepy Hollow Food Scrap Recycling programs) are encouraged to bring up to two large bins and buckets and take home finished compost brought in from the composting facility. \nIf you are able to come help us\, VOLUNTEER HERE. \nThis celebration of environmental activism will include a compost learning station for kids and families\, and information about each Villages’ programs.  A share table for seeds and plants will allow residents who don’t have a garden at home to take advantage of the free compost and  go home with something to grow. \nThis event is sponsored by Sleepy Hollow Environmental Advisory Committee (SHEAC)\, Climate Smart Communities & Tarrytown Environmental Advisory Council (TEAC).

DESCRIPTION:You are cordially invited to join the us at the Climate-adaptive Design Studio Open House to view designs for a future Tarrytown waterfront\, as envisioned by Cornell University Department of Landscape Architecture students. The student designs reflect research they conducted about the Tarrytown waterfront\, as well as input and feedback from local residents\, business owners\, non-profit organizational staff and municipal officials. Special thanks to everyone who interacted with the studio by attending an in-person meeting or responding to our survey. \nThe Open House will be held on Monday\, December 12th from 1:30 to 4:30 pm at the Tarrytown Senior Center\, 240 West Main Street. The event will feature a brief informational presentation\, followed by a salon-style gathering\, so that attendees can view designs and talk with students in small groups.
