Calendar of Events:

  • 8am: Birdwatching walk at the Tarrytown Lakes with Ornithologist Dr. Carole Griffiths to catch a glimpse of the huge variety of bird species and wildlife in this NYS Environmentally Protected area (meet at Lakes parking lot on Neperan Road)
  • 9am-12pm: Two Clean-up Efforts –  Neperan Park and Sheldon Ave/Lincoln ave. Wear boots/sturdy shoes, a hat, long sleeves, bring gloves, and water.
  • 9am: Hike and Trail Marking – Meet at Park and Ride lot near old pump-house to help clear and blaze a forgotten trail. Wear hiking boots, hat, long sleeves, and bring gloves, and water Limit 10 people.
  • 10am-12pm: Tree Planting – Meet at the TT Lakes parking lot. Will plant Paw Paw Trees, a native tree that bears unusual fruit! Limit 9 people.
  • 10am-3pm: Lakes Clean-up (meet in parking lot) Wear boots/sturdy shoes, a hat, long sleeves, bring gloves, and water.
  • 10am-12pm: SHEAC Events at Peabody Preserve on North Broadway between Philipse and Sleepy Hollow Manors: Butterfly & pollinator garden open house; Identifying exotic invasive species trail walk; For kids K-5, spring nature walk to discover emerging flora and fauna; Brownie troop info booth on STEM outdoor and citizen science projects; Healthy lawn care and lawn fertilizer; Native and pollinator plants in your home landscape; Fairy house building.
  • 10am-2pm:  Tarrytown RiverWalk clean-up. Meet at the bottom of West Main for trash pick-up, weeding and readying the park for use. All in honor of Katharine W. Davis. Refreshments will be served.
  • 12-2pm: Metal Detecting at Wilson Park. Meet the Putnam and Westchester Detectorists and Archeological Society.  Learn the art of metal detecting and uncover some local treasures.
  • 1:30-2:30pm: Meet-and-Greet with County Executive George Latimer at Coffee Labs on Main Street to discuss environmental issues in Westchester.
  • 1:30-2:30pm: For Kids! Earth Day Book reading at NU Toy store and again during Picnic at Pierson Park 3:45-4pm
  • All Day Earth Day Happy Hour at the Oath – selected $5 Draft Beer.
  • 3-6pm: Picnic at Pierson Park with food vendors and Free Music by The Kennedys
  • 8-9pm: Lights Out – Dine by Candlelight (at participating local restaurants)
