People's Climate March NYC

In September, world leaders are coming to New York City for a UN summit on the climate crisis. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is urging governments to support an ambitious global agreement to dramatically reduce global warming pollution. With our future on the line and the whole world watching, we’ll take a stand to bend the course of history. We’ll take to the streets to demand the world we know is within our reach: a world with an economy that works for people and the planet; a world safe from the ravages of climate change; a world with good jobs, clean air and water, and healthy communities. Join us in marching behind a Tarrytown banner and bring your own signs to make your own messages loud and clear.  To change everything, we need everyone on board on Sunday, September 21 in New York City. Join us!

Walking Audit at Tarrytown Village Hall

As part of our “Complete Streets” initiative, we will host a community walking audit of a quarter mile area around the Tarrytown train station. The goal is to observe and identify concerns and opportunities for pedestrians and bicyclists related to safety, access, comfort, and convenience. Additionally, we will observe traffic patterns and public amenities (streetlights, recycling etc.). Participants will be asked to fill out surveys and engage in a group discussion. After the walking audit, we will reconvene at the Village Hall to share experiences and findings.

Designing a Great Neighborhood–Film and Screening

In DESIGNING A GREAT NEIGHBORHOOD, director David Wann follows the progress of the Wild Sage Cohousing Community project, where future residents participate in the design of their own neighborhood and attempt to achieve a "zero emissions" community in which solar energy, energy efficiency, and changes in behavior eliminate the need for fossil fuels. After the screening, TEAC member Lakis Polycarpou will present new collaborative tools and lead an interactive discussion on how residents of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow can work together to reduce the villages’ environmental footprints and increase community resilience. Light refreshments will be served. If the library parking lot is full, there is street Parking or the small municipal behind the library lot on Wildey Street.
